After hearing of the theft at the Toys for Tots warehouse, my son, Conner Pennington, came up with the idea of having a hot-dog sale as a way to raise money for Toys for Tots. Never in a million years did I believe how successful it would become. On Nov. 15, Conner, his brother, Cole, and their friend, Adam, raised $1,420 selling hot dogs and baked goods and donated all the money to Toys for Tots.
We want to publicly thank some people and businesses for their success. First, the fantastic crew at Resource Island - thank you for everything you did! Vince "the grill master" Wattai - the hot dogs were great! To Len's Friendly Market, Krall's Meat Market and Adam Hartman's family, thank you for the hot dogs. To Pinky's Furniture, thank you for the DVD player we raffled off. To Giant and McDonald's in the Cleona Square, the PX at Fort Indiantown Gap and Lebanon Valley Paper Co., thank you for your donations of supplies. Also, a big thank-you to all the people who donated the delicious baked goods. Everything was wonderful!
Last but not least, thank you to the community. The generous support you've shown to these boys and their "Kids Helping Kids" project was truly inspiring.
Giving back is truly the reason for the season. God bless you all, and may everyone have a wonderful holiday!
